So we're reinventing it with a unique startup called Breaking News (you may follow our Twitter account @breakingnews). We're a smart team of developers, designers and journalists who are building a platform that delivers the breaking news that's uniquely important to people -- as it happens.

For example, we're the first app to alert our users when a big story breaks near them.

Breaking News is a nimble startup that's owned by NBC News. We build what we want with the backing of a large media company (that doesn't mess with us). We're based in Seattle with team members in New York, Los Angeles and London.

We're a predominately a mobile company with Android, iOS and Windows apps along with a responsive BreakingNews.com site. It's all powered by a real-time platform built in Python/Django with a range of killer APIs that the news industry can only drool about. And with the explosion of TV apps, wearables, etc., we have plenty to challenge you with.
