Brand Story

BJSS has always harnessed technology to help organisations do great things. In 1993, Mark Hunter and Andrew Vincent assembled a small team of talented software engineers with a shared vision of a better way of delivering IT solutions. They created BJSS. Their approach was simple: we differentiated ourselves by the technical excellence of our people, and an unashamedly client-focused delivery culture. 25 years on, those ideals remain at the heart of everything we do. We quickly gained a reputation for delivering complex IT programmes. Today over 1,000 talented BJSS technologists are dedicated to delivering innovative IT and business services to clients from locations across the UK and USA. Over the years, we have delivered a global oil pricing system as well as a low-latency multi-asset class trading system that handles 60% of all foreign exchange trades worldwide. We've helped Waitrose to reduce its development costs and improve productivity by re-engineering a fundamental in-store system. And we worked with the Co-op to develop its new Co-op Membership proposition too. We also delivered to HM Government with NHS Hospital Episode Statistics and FCO Crisis Hub. Our NHS Spine 2 delivery became the largest Open Source system in the UK public sector and a critical part of England’s national healthcare infrastructure. It is 89% faster than its predecessor and saves the NHS over £21 million every year. We continue to work with the NHS and we support several other Public Sector organisations, such as the DVSA and Disclosure Scotland, with large-scale transformation projects. Our delivery pedigree captured the attention of several awards programmes. We hold the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category for our Enterprise Agile software delivery approach. Announced annually by Her Majesty the Queen, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise follow a rigorous and highly competitive judging process, and is only bestowed on organisations that maintain the highest levels of business excellence. Also, the European Business Awards awarded us a Ruban d’Honneur for two years running and we have clinched many industry awards for our various project deliveries.
