Acupera has developed and deployed the first software solution that enables hospitals to deliver complete health care to people for the 99% of the time they do not spend in the doctor’s office. Our solution combines enterprise software, Big Data, and mobile technologies with robust clinical and behavioral patient data, analytics and workflows to identify undiscovered problems and to help manage them before they become costly issues.

Acupera was in the news recently on Wired (http://wrd.cm/103H0Ey), PRNewswire (http://prn.to/1yIsK08) and VentureBeat (http://bit.ly/1yIsKxs).

Imagine this scenario: Jane’s blood pressure measured at home is trending high for a couple of months and the Acupera system automatically notifies her care manager, Nurse Shelley. Nurse Shelley then calls Jane to assess her condition and schedules an appointment with Jane’s doctor, Dr. Jones. When Jane comes to the see Dr. Jones the next week, Dr. Jones reviews her case, which has been automatically generated by the Acupera system and addresses the most important needs. After a couple of months, Acupera notifies Nurse Shelley that Jane’s blood pressure is still up. She calls and assesses Jane’s condition again and the Acupera system recognizes that Jane has depression issues and suggests a local support group within Jane’s neighborhood – the integration of behavioral and clinical data with intelligent workflows has been a dream, until now. With the help of the support group and her doctor, Jane is finally able to control her blood pressure. The hospital benefits financially both through outcomes based reimbursement and upselling additional services.

Significantly improved patient care and business outcomes, powered by Acupera.

This scenario is not a dream but something that is happening at leading hospital systems across the country. Acupera’s rapidly growing list of clients includes Ascension Health (the largest non-profit health system in the US) and Montefiore (the best performing Accountable Care Organization in the US).

Due to market demand, we are in a rapid growth phase and need to increase our development team in the next few months. We are looking to add more software developers (both front-end and back-end), data integration engineers, product managers, data scientists, clinical content managers and interns to our rapidly expanding teams in San Francisco and Raleigh, NC. We’re looking for people who are “smart and get things done”. We are a small company and looking for people who want to make a difference in healthcare while having fun.

A typical week for an employee starts out with a company-wide update from all the teams on Monday morning. Then on Tuesday morning we have sprint planning meetings where each member of the team breaks down their work for the week. The teams are self-sufficient and members work daily with each other to define and complete the work. Every couple of weeks we release new functionality to our customers using the SaaS (Software as a Service) model.

Instead of talking about how people are our biggest asset, we show it. We use the latest technologies like HMTL5 & JavaScript on the front end and C#, .Net 4.5, SQL 2012 and NoSql (Redis). Each person gets a super-fast laptop (your choice of Windows or Mac) with SSD drives and two big monitors. We have free drinks and snacks in the office and catered lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays.
