Wanelo (from Want, Need, Love) is the shopping app for Generation Z - the first digital-born generation and the world’s fastest growing consumer group. Millions of people use Wanelo to buy unique products from thousands of sellers around the world. Wanelo has consistently ranked as one of the top shopping apps in the US with over 100,000 5-star ratings on iOS and Android. Our team is agile with short development cycles. We have rapidly growing revenue and our users are obsessed.
Wanelo’s small team of engineers actively develop one of the largest and fastest Rails applications in the wild. It peaks at 3,000 requests per second and keeps growing, while sustaining 80ms average request latency. Our CDN delivers nearly 30,000 images per second to desktop and mobile clients. Despite these huge traffic spikes, our engineers confidently deploy several times a day, and features started in the morning are often live by the afternoon.
In addition to the backend web/API application and supporting services, our engineers also work on the native iOS and Android apps.
The engineering culture is that of extreme DevOps, where there is no Ops (yet)! The entire infrastructure is hosted in the (Joyent) cloud, and is fully automated using Chef which is managed by the core development team, achieving 99.99% uptime last year. Our team is also big on open source, extracting and open sourcing many of our core libraries, tools and Chef cookbooks.
We practice extreme agile (we like to call it "aggro-agile"), and pair-program by default (but aren't religious about it). We're big fans of TDD and automated testing. The company focus is on shipping awesome product, and you can expect to collaborate with the CEO, product team and operations folks to make that happen.
We have a bright, sunny office in the Mission with a private deck. Lunch is catered daily and there are plenty of snacks. Also Squishables.
