The problem

Today's businesses are increasingly at risk for cyberattacks that compromise confidential corporate, employee, and customer data. Most such attacks are not sophisticated hacking exploits portrayed in sci-fi movies, but instead rely on email and social engineering to trick an employee into opening an infected attachment, sharing confidential data, or processing an illegitimate payment.

Simultaneously, a growing number of email senders are exploiting known security and regulatory gaps for incremental personal gains. These activities pose brand new privacy risks to recipients, expose confidential downstream email engagement for companies, and yield an unfair negotiation advantage to senders.

Both aforementioned risk categories are enabled or exacerbated by the rising prevalence of spymail. Spymails are emails that contain hidden tracking code; these bugged emails look and act just like regular email, but secretly reveal to their senders when and how many times they are opened, whether and to where they are forwarded, device and operating system information, and the physical location from which they are opened. Yet despite the risks spymail poses, the vast majority of businesses and business email users are yet unaware and unprotected from this new threat.

Our solution

We built MailControl to help businesses combat these email-based cyberattacks. Our flagship product, the Enterprise Privacy Shield (EPS), automatically recognizes spymails and disables the hidden tracking code inside before said emails reach user inboxes.

Our technology serves as a new layer on top of existing security infrastructure. This layer is designed to protect every single enterprise email, and is completely agnostic with regard to endpoint device, operating system, email client, or user behavior. We support both cloud and on-premises deployments depending on organizational need. Further, our technology platform enables us to easily develop and deploy add-on capabilities beyond anti-spymail security to better serve our customers' evolving security needs.

As the de facto standard for external business messaging, email continues to be the dominant channel of commercial communications and is not going anywhere. Our mission is to ensure enterprises are properly protected from rising security threats in this open standard and are able to continue to trust and rely on it to further their growth.
