Our Story

We co-founded Constructor.io after working at multiple websites and finding ourselves re-building the same features over and over. We worked together on Shutterstock's search team (Dan was the CTO there; Eli was a data scientist) and realized that the features we were building were the same ones that countless other engineers had built.

We decided to create a company that would provide "features as a service", particularly around search. Search is a hard thing to get right. To do it well, you need lots of data science and machine learning, but those skillsets are scarce. Instead of requiring every company to hire its own search team, Constructor.io wants to offer search services that websites and apps can easily integrate with, and hide all the complexity behind a clear, simple API.

We've spent the last two years building and selling our autocomplete service. We recently signed a major contract with Jet.com, and raised a new round of investment.
