Earnin’s mission is simple: we are building a financial system that works for people. That means a system that serves people’s interests (not banks, corporations, or the very rich), powered by the best technology Silicon Valley has to offer.

In 2008, Earnin CEO Ram Palaniappan was heading up a different company when he heard one of his employees was struggling with overdraft fees and high interest payday lending products. The problem was not that the employee wasn’t paid fairly. The problem was that she needed money now — and payday was not due for another week. So Ram wrote her a personal check, which he deducted from her scheduled two-week pay. As word got out and more and more individuals (including people outside the company) started asking him for the same favor, Ram knew he had to build a product to help more people.

Launched in 2014, The Earnin app allows anyone with a job and a bank account to get paid the minute they leave work — right from their smartphone. There are no fees, no interest, no hidden costs. Instead, Earners support the service by tipping what they think is fair. Because we believe we’re all in this together — people, trying to create a better system.

As one of the first pioneers of earned wage access, our passion at EarnIn is building products that deliver real time financial flexibility for those with the unique needs of living paycheck to paycheck. Our community members access their earnings as they earn them, with options to spend, save, and grow their money without mandatory fees, interest rates, or credit checks. Since our founding, our app has been downloaded over 13M times and we have provided access to $10 billion in earnings.
