Hi! I’m Alan Stevenson, Senior Partnerships Manager at Remote. 

Remote simplifies global employment, making it possible for companies of all sizes to onboard and hire talent around the world. We work hand in hand with companies as they transition to remote, and our exponential growth is a reflection of this revolution.

In January 2021, Remote had just 70 employees. Today we have grown to 900 employees across more than 60 countries, servicing clients all over the globe. 

Wow, that’s incredibly exciting growth. Did Remote come to exist during COVID?

Actually, our Co-Founders started Remote in 2019. Even before the pandemic they recognized companies were evolving away from static offices and needed better tools to employ and pay people living in other countries.

It is maddeningly complex to hire someone from another country. You have to be equipped for local payroll, taxes, benefits, and compliance with laws and regulations in both places. Remote built the infrastructure to handle all that, so you can build your team internationally as easily as you can at home.

Sounds “maddeningly complex,” tell us more! 

Similar to how Hired envisions a world where all hiring is equitable, efficient, and transparent, Remote is committed to removing location as a barrier to employment. We also have a number of social programs running to support people who have been affected by any global or political upheaval. 

Remote for Refugees launched in 2019 as an extension of this mission, giving free access to our employer of record (EOR) services for displaced candidates with refugee status. We are also using our network of partners such as HR Consultants, Financial Advisors, VC Firms, and Recruiting Firms to provide end-to-end solutions for companies looking to expand internationally.

Earlier this month, we launched the Remote API – a first-to-market API to help companies scale and seamlessly manage international teams!

Today, many companies are struggling to find comprehensive support for managing payroll, benefits, and compliance for increasingly distributed teams. To solve this challenge, the Remote API is built for partners to embed Remote’s global employment services directly within their platforms. This way, the companies they serve can effortlessly hire employees globally, pay their teams in local currencies, and remain compliant with local regulations.

Through a customizable integration, partners support their customers’ workforce needs in multiple countries all from a single platform. This enables them to scale more efficiently.
