Hired Partner, Oyster: Hire, Pay, & Care for Teammates Across the Globe

Welcome to our spotlight series! Would you mind introducing yourself and Oyster?

My name is Elvin Aliyev and I’m Oyster’s Partnerships Manager. We are a quickly growing team located in 50+ different countries from around the world.

Oyster’s mission is to create a more equal world by making it possible for companies everywhere to hire people anywhere.

Wow, anywhere in the world, that’s fantastic. How did Oyster get started?

Since the pandemic, the world witnessed a historic shift in how we work. In reality, however, this shift has been happening long before Covid-19. Thanks to the significant leaps made in the digitization of the workspace in recent years, working from anywhere quickly became a reality for many people. 

In anticipation of this inevitable shift, Tony Jamous, our CEO, and Co-Founder Jack Mardack sought to provide an opportunity for companies to hire otherwise untapped talent from around the globe in a seamless manner. What we did not predict, however, was how rapid this shift would come along as a result of the pandemic. Since then, we’ve realized just how important our mission was, and how much there is to do! 

Consider this: an estimated 1.5 billion knowledge workers are coming into the workforce in the next 10 years, mostly from emerging economies, while in developed economies there are some 90 million jobs unfilled. This is where Oyster comes into play.

1.5 billion – sounds like an exciting time to be in the space! Where does Hired fit into this?

Oyster and Hired are aligned with similar missions to help remote workforces uncover the best talent and build amazing, diverse teams. By working with both Oyster and Hired, companies seeking to hire remote workers will find the hiring process far less challenging – while also finding top quality candidates. 

Thus far, Hired has been an incredible resource to point Oyster’s users to when they are in need of sourcing and vetting high-performing, remote tech candidates and we’re excited to continue to grow out this partnership as global remote hiring becomes the reality for an increasing number of companies.

We’re glad to be working with Oyster too! Are there any exciting initiatives you’re working on that you want to share with our community?

We’re working on some really exciting things. Firstly, season 5 of our New World of Work podcast arrives in late March. This season is special because we have a new host, Oyster’s Internal Communications Specialist, Katie McCauley. This season is all about how different companies grew with the help of global employment and how they think about HR and People Ops through that lens. We spoke to folks from incredible companies like Webflow, Superside, and Butter. The new season arrives March 21, 2024, so look out for that.

We’re also launching our third annual Impact Report this Spring. We look forward to launching our Impact Report each year because it allows us to hold ourselves accountable to our mission and share important outcomes as we continue to connect companies with global talent.

Finally, we’re working on a very fun initiative right now called “Remote Work Week”. Oyster is a fully remote company with employees working from 70+ countries worldwide. Connecting and sharing our experiences from countries and cities across the globe is ingrained in our culture as a company. So, from April 8-12, we have some really exciting things planned on our social media. Keep your eyes glued to Oyster’s Linkedin and Instagram pages that week.
