How We’re Supporting Ukraine

Ways to help the people of Ukraine with work and other support

Note: Because the situation in Ukraine is active, and evolving, we’ll be updating this blog as an ongoing reference.

Our world seems to be spinning so fast these days but felt like it stopped for a moment when Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

At Hired, we support the people caught in this invasion, who are forced to defend or flee their homes. To that end, we’re cataloging initiatives and other ways to support them in employment or otherwise here.

What Hired is doing to support Ukraine

First, we’re matching up to $5K in employee donations. Currently, Hired team members have contributed $2.5K, so plus our corporate total, we’ve donated $7.5K so far to nonprofit organizations supporting the Ukraine crisis.

Second, we’re waiving any placement fees for employers on Hired’s platform who hire displaced talent and who are experiencing refugee status. Currently, we have several dozen talented Ukrainians and graduates from CodeYourFuture on our platform looking for roles.

How The Adecco Group is pooling resources to help

Hired’s parent company, The Adecco Group, announced on March 16, 2022, the launch of a global jobs platform accessible in either Ukrainian or English language at adeccojobsfor ukraine.com

This platform is free-to-post and open to Ukrainian refugee candidates and to companies everywhere. Based on years of experience working with refugees from past crises, finding work and meaningful employment is crucial to securing financial stability. It also provides a foundation for people to begin new lives and secure futures.

The portal functionalities include:

  • Job search in almost 60 countries and regions where The Adecco Group has a presence through its three global business units: Adecco, LHH, and Akkodis.
  • Free online training module access to build CVs, job search, and counseling.
  • Upskilling/reskilling in, as an example, language skills and digital capabilities.
  • Resource links to help find housing.
  • Government site links with information on labor regulations (initially on European countries).
  • Job posting for employers with opportunities for displaced workers.

Actions taken by The Adecco Group

Since the first day of the crisis, The Adecco Group colleagues in bordering countries have worked to support Ukrainian colleagues and associates affected by the war. Teams in Easten Europe are applying multiple efforts on the ground and with multilateral organizations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Here is a short list of some the concrete actions taken, summarized by CEO of The Adecco Group Alain Dehaze in a recent post

  • We maintain contact with our 1,600 Ukrainian associates in Poland, offering to meet their families at the border, and deliver vital assistance to ensure their safety and to support family reunification
  • Hired a fleet of buses to transport families to the cities where our Associates work, where we have arranged accommodation, food, health and hygiene products. Yesterday we transported more that 100 family members of our associates and 50 orphaned children to safe areas in Poland
  • After a period of acclimatization, our teams will discuss with family members whether they would like us to support them into work opportunities. From there, we will match them with potential vacancies, thus helping them re-establish themselves in a new country
  • We plan to replicate this approach in other countries where the arrival of refugees is expected, including the Czech Republic and Romania.

In addition, The Adecco Group joined the Tent Partnership for Refugees in 2020. It is a coalition of more than 170 major companies committed to including refugees. The Adecco Group is also intervening on a number of levels in the countries where it operates through its global business units Adecco, LHH, AKKA & Modis.
