Yesterday, in Dublin, Ireland, Hired CTO, Allan Grant, spoke on stage at Web Summit. Within three years Web Summit has become one of the world’s most influential and international tech events. The organization hosted 500 speakers and 20,000 attendees.
This year, Web Summit diversified into core sectors of business and technology. Builders Summit was one of the cornerstones of this year’s event that was wholly dedicated to the people and companies behind developing the technology that is fundamentally changing the way we live. Allan was a keynote speaker at the Builders Summit and spoke to a packed-house.
Allan’s 30-minute presentation was titled, “Nice to Meet You, I’m the Guy Who Hacked Your Site.” He shared his experience and humorous anecdotes in his life from childhood to adulthood. Then, how in 2011, at the Web Summit conference, Allan met Matt Mickiewicz, now CEO at Hired, for the first time and they shared a pint of Guinness. Soon after, Allan, Matt and Doug Feirstein (all three pictured above) founded DeveloperAuction, now known as Hired.
After sharing about his formative years, the presentation switched gears and Allan explained specifically how he grew from an engineer to CTO. Sharing personal stories on his successes and failures, Allan provided insight into the opportunities and obstacles engineers should look out for as they navigate their own career paths.
The presentation was well-received with lots of audience reaction (pictured), which concluded with a standing ovation.
