About Us

Kumu was born from the vision that wellness is a journey best accomplished with a friend. We call these friends Kumu Wellness Coaches, and we’ve spent the last 5 years learning, and failing, and learning some more about what makes an awesome Coach. Knowledgeable. Supportive. Someone who understands that to replace a bad habit, you first have to create a good habit.

Our core belief is that for a healthy habit to stick, it has to be simple and personal. So Kumu gets rid of the need for nutrition calculators, rigid exercise plans, and gives you 100% more of the personal attention from your Coach.

Kumu is the labor of love for 10 passionate team members based in Los Angeles. We’ve had a blast building Kumu and are excited to finally share it with the world.

How It Works

Kumu Wellness pairs you with a real Wellness Coach who’s dedicated to helping you achieve your health and fitness goals. Just like you talk with friends, you can text, photo message, and video chat with your coach on an unlimited basis, all through the Kumu app.

Interview Process

Our interview process takes about 7-10 days. The first stage will be a phone screen. The next step will be an in-person interview along with a homework test. If all goes well, the final stage of the interview process will include an in-person for pair programming and a presentation of the homework you have completed.
